The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has published guidelines which specify practices for constructing and handling recombinant DNA molecules, organisms, and viruses containing recombinant DNA molecules. (Refer to the NIH OBA website for additional information.)

Projects proposing the use of recombinant DNA that are subject to the NIH Guidelines must be reviewed by the FSU Biological Safety Committee. Users must complete the Recombinant DNA Registration and submit it for committee review.
